FORM.

-Grouping of lines and areas which define the boundary or the volume of something.

-Outer shape of a body.

-In geometry, the shape of a physical object situated somewhere in the space, is a geometric description of the part of space that this object is taking, according to what is defined by its outer limit and not considering its ubication or orientation at the space, its size or its properties like the colour, content and material composition.

- In the sphere of function and technique, the architect is responsible to the patterns of his culture on one hand and to the patterns of technology on the other; but, in the expression of form, he is free to communicate his own personality and concepts. Not every architect has the gift to exercise this prerogative to the fullest. As in other arts and sciences, a few individuals generare new styles, and others follow, interpreting these styles in original and personal ways. But the majority accepts styles as given and perpetuates them without leaving its own mark. The architect’s main responsability in the formation of style is to create meaningful form. When form is spacen of in the arts, not only the physical shape, size and mass of a work are meant but also all the elements that contribute to the work’s aesthetic structure and composition. Many of these may be without a fixes form of their own- a rest in music, a line in painting, a space in architecture- and gain significance only as they are organized into the finished product. The basic formal elements of architectuee in these sense are space and mass. The process of organising these elements into an ordered form is called composition, and the main means by which they are given expressive quality are scale, light, texture and colour.
